You are everything that you think you are, your thoughts are not meaningless, there is every reason for everything that you think is right about everything that you acknowledge of knowing, and you are reasonable to acknowledge that there is lot more to know than what you already know. Fair.
But look who is evaluating your thoughts, you yourself?
At remote ends, your single thought could be at one end absolutely wrong or at another end absolutely right, or at any level between these remote ends. You end the thought (atleast temporarily) by deciding to place the thought at the most appropriate position if you arrived at a decision, else you keep it for further evaluation and proceed with next thought or at times loop through the same thought without arriving at a decision.
What, your mind has nothing else to do other than just keep thinking, processing one thought after another, is it all it does all the time?
Well, how about finding it out yourself, try doing this, stop thinking for 1 minute, just one minute, absolutely no thoughts (close your eyes if you want) and stay without thinking about absolutely anything, complete blank.
You find it difficult to do this, don't you?, try for 30 seconds, may be 10 seconds, or how about mere 5 seconds?
Tip: Try to control your breath, you may notice your thoughts would be comparatively controllable. This practise is followed in Hindu religion and known as Pranayama, but we are not talking about religion here, so thats all about it.
Ok, so back to the point, what is the point by the way?
Mind keeps on processing thoughts, so?
You are nothing more than a emulation of your mind about yourself to the best of your mind's processing capabilities to project yourself as accurately as it can accept, and everything you believe is memory of varied thoughts processed by your mind with contineous inputs to your mind either through internal or external sources. Some thoughts were put into your mind deliberately by somebody to make a better you, like religion, school etc., where it is tried to set certain pre-processed rules in your mind that will affect your decision making, it is like a method to control your free will. Because free will may be dangerous with an immature mind.
And the beauty is, the whole process keeps varying, evolving, mixing, and intersecting with other processes, thus eliminating any thoughts about deja vu in the redundant thought processing process since the moments keep chaning, every moment is unique because a moment for a person is made up of all the external things, time, plus the internal chemical reactions in his brain.
Redundacy may not be a welcome word in professional world, well then try to beat it, try to not think about anything in a day more than once in the whole day.
Ok, cut the crap, what about physical self, real mass and matter, that is what makes a person, mind is not everything about you or me, there is more to one self.
Your mind is non-physical you, Mind = The collective conscious and unconscious processes in a sentient organism that direct and influence mental and physical behavior. Its like the physical you is always overpowered by the mental you, your mind always rulez over your physical self. One simple recognizable struggle between your physical self and mental self can be experienced when you are in a public and your body needs to fart. You can feel it but you cannot express it, you go through certain chemical reactions, and it all ends with you looking around and moving on as if nothing happened, for a moment your body denies to take orders of your mind and both somehow manage to get through.
Well, if you think you are in control of your mind, then try to live just one day as physical self, you cannot live without using your mind unless you are unconscious, so you cannot completely live physical self it will be like dead walking, so rather just try to use your mind to bare minimum and dont use any sort of technology, tv, radio, pc, cell etc. just live your own self, physical self. Use of mind to bare minimum like no thinking unless its really required, no emotions, no talking unless really required, eat but ignore the taste, dont sleep, no response to anything happening around unless really required, and dont do this in a room with just you, try doing this in one of your regular day with regular life.
Well, enough about mind, what about physical you?
The physical you, lets start with the source of your mind - your Brain.
Brain is the most complex organ in a human body that is the source and physical matter from where mind origins. Unlike mind, brain has more realistic functions some of which are performed independently of your mind's concent such as senses, memory, control center for transmission and receipt of impulses etc.
The normal adult human brain typically weighs between 1 and 1.5 kg (3 lb) and has an average volume of 1.6 litres. The brain like any other organ is made up of millions of cells.
The cell is the structural and functional unit of all known living organisms, and is sometimes called the "building block of life." Humans have an estimated 100 trillion or 10 raised to 14 cells; a typical cell size is 10 µm; a typical cell mass is 1 nanogram.
At a microscopic level, we are all composed of cells. Look at yourself in a mirror -- what you see is about 10 trillion cells divided into about 200 different types. Our muscles are made of muscle cells, our livers of liver cells, and there are even very specialized types of cells that make the enamel for our teeth or the clear lenses in our eyes!
A single cell is made up of outer cell membrane, inside the membrane is the cytoplasm, made up of millions of enzymes, sugars, ATP and other molecules floating freely in water. At the center of the cell is its DNA.
At any given moment, all of the work being done inside any cell is being done by enzymes. If you understand enzymes, you understand cells. At the most basic level, a cell is really a little bag full of chemical reactions that are made possible by enzymes! Enzymes are made from amino acids, and they are proteins. When an enzyme is formed, it is made by stringing together between 100 and 1,000 amino acids in a very specific and unique order.
An amino acid is a small molecule that acts as the building block to build enzymes and structural proteins. In chemistry, an amino acid is a molecule that contains both amine and carboxyl functional groups.
A molecule can be most properly defined as a group of atoms joined in a specific structure. In case of amino acid, it is amine and carboxyl functional groups.
The atom is the smallest part of an element that can exist chemically, it cannot be further broken down by any chemical means. Each atom has a center (the nucleus) which contains protons and neutrons. Electrons orbit around the nucleus. The atom is primarily empty space. If the nucleus of an atom were the size of the button on a baseball pitcher's cap, the electrons would be like dust particles revolving around the outside of the baseball stadium.
Ok, we have reached a point where we cannot go further, the tiniest part of you is an atom, and the tiniest functional living unit of you is a cell. And this is where you started of, as a cell, a sperm cell, that is a long story, however it is very important story to know about you.
It took two people's effort to produce you, what a big deal, everybody knows that, but what everybody may not know is, how you made it.
Each month, in one of a woman's two ovaries, a group of immature eggs start to develop in small fluid-filled cysts called follicles. A "dominant follicle" suppresses the growth of all of the other follicles, which stop growing and degenerate. The mature follicle ruptures and releases the egg from the ovary. The egg is released and travels into the fallopian tube where it remains until a single sperm penetrates it during fertilization.
In a man, Sperm cells are made in the testes where it takes about 72 days for one sperm to grow. The mature sperm cell (spermatozoa) is 0.05 milliliters long. It consists of a head, body and tail. The head is covered by the ac cap and contains a nucleus of dense genetic material from the 23 chromosomes. Sperm swim at a rate of about 3mm (0.12 inches) per minute. Some sperm cells are 'better' swimmers than others. The average volume of semen produced at ejaculation is 2 to 5ml, the concentration of spermatozoa is at least 20 million per ml of semen.
When the sperm penetrates the egg, changes occur in the protein coating around it to prevent other sperm from entering. At the moment of fertilization, the genetic make-up of the baby is complete, including its sex. Since the mother can provide only X chromosomes (she's XX), if a Y sperm fertilizes the egg, the baby will be a boy (XY); if an X sperm fertilizes the egg, the baby will be a girl (XX).
"Fertilization is the fusion of a female's egg cell (oocyte) and a male's sperm cell (spermatozoa) to form the first cell of a new and unique being."
In short, the egg in a female gets to its position after killing other competing eggs and waits for the sperm to arrive. Around a minimum of 40 million sperms travel at the speed of 3mm per minute during ejaculation, out of which 25% already dead, they travel by tapping their tail, on entering female body more than 99% die due to acidic fluids in female body, less than 1% reaches the egg. Sperm can live within a woman's body for up to three days.
It is crucial that only one sperm enters the egg. If an extra sperm passes through, a lethal condition known as polyspermy (many sperm) will occur. On the rare occasion this occurs, the fetus will be miscarried as a result of the extra set of chromosomes. To prevent this in most instances, a substance is released from the egg that changes the zona pellucida once it has been penetrated, blocking entry of any other sperm. Sperm penetration triggers the completion of the second meiotic division in the egg. With this division, the chromosomes of the sperm and egg come together in their own nucleus. The cell now officially becomes a zygote, the first cell of a new individual.
So here the fittest sperm that manages to enter the egg first will trigger chemical reactions that will result in the death of all other competing sperms. Finally the winner egg and the winner sperm merge and a new individual is created.
The fertilized egg or zygote undergoes cleavage (cell division without cell growth) to form a hollow ball or blastocyst. During the second week following fertilization, gastrulation (cell differentiation and migration) results in the formation of three tissue types. These three types of tissue develop into different organ systems: the ectoderm develops into the skin and nervous system; the mesoderm develops into connective tissues, the circulatory system, muscles, and bones; and the endoderm develops into the lining of the digestive system, lungs, and urinary system. In humans, by about the fourth week, the head and trunk can be distinguished and the brain, spinal cord, and internal organs begin to develop. By the fifth week, limbs begin to appear and the embryo is about .33 in. (.8 cm) long. By the end of eight weeks, the embryo has grown to about 1 in. (2.5 cm) long and all subsequent change is limited primarily to growth and specialization of existing structures.
OK, back to the original point, the point is?
You started as a single cell, consumed the resources and multiplied, multiplied to form organs, multiplied to for the complete body, you consumed all the resource you needed from your mother and she consumed all the resource she needed through food, processed food and unprocessed food like fruits etc., in 9 months you consumed enough resource to form a baby, then you were born.
Till today, whatever you are is because you ate, you ate food, three times a day without failing, various types of food, food that were converted into your body cells, and you kept growing. Every single thing that you ate which became part of your body came from your surrounding environments, nothing was made by you or in general humans, humans process food and eat, humans cannot create food. Plants are grown, from where we get vegetables and fruits and even the meat, because that animal you ate actually grew eating plants.
So everything you are is by consuming the resources around you.
You will keep doing this till you are alive, because if you stop you will die, anyways someday you will die. When you die, your body will be disposed, every single cell in your body will die, it will go back to the surrounding, and the chemicals that formed atoms, that formed the molecules, that formed your single cell and all of your 100 trillion cells will be transformed, everything that formed alive you will die and what will remain is the chemicals that constitued atoms, molecules, cells of your body. These chemicals will react with some other chemicals and will transform into something else, and you will be gone forever.
As science says energy can neither be distroyed nor be created, every single unit of energy in the universe will be intact, neither a single unit can be destroyed nor created new in the universe. It can only be transformed into another form.
You had absolutely no control on anything that happened before you were born, you will have absolutely no control on anything that will happen after your death. And you cannot do much about what has already happened since your birth, so that leaves with you what you have now and years to come till you die. Thats the window you have, to do what you want to do, to live life, to understand life, your life, yourself, and you wont have much before you realize its too late, your time will expire, like you feel now, you have reached this point of your life so fast, you didnt realize how far you have come.
Your mind tells you, you are great, smart, beautiful, intelligent, leader, achiever, rich, above others. Yes true, but how long?
What difference you made?
This is all about you, your mind, your brain, your self and everything that makes you. But what you are to the world, to the universe, for that matter for everything that exists?
You are nothing, you really are nothing.
You are one person,
you live with a family of around 5 persons that makes your house,
your house might be one of the 25 houses in your area,
there might be around 10 area that forms your city,
there might be around 5 cities that forms your state,
there might be 25 states that forms your country,
You are very well known in your home, may be known by people in your area, you are nobody to your city, state or country as a whole, unless you are famous to be know by the city, state or whole country.
What you are compared to the number of people live in your area, your city, your state, your country?
If say your country has 1 million people, you are 0.0001th % of your country's humans, that small you are.
And you live in one country,
several countries form a continent,
and several continents form the world we live in, to be precise 7 continents.
There are around 194 countries in the world,
number of humans is 6,602,224,175 (July 2007 est.)
You are 1 out of 6,602,224,175 humans live on this planet earth.
And the actual land we live in is only 29.2%, rest of the planet is filled with water i.e. 70.8%.
Real stats:
Area total: 510.072 million sq km
land: 148.94 million sq km
water: 361.132 million sq km
Imagine how tiniest is your body compared to everything else that exists in this planet earth.
Earth rotates around the star we all know as Sun. It would take one million Earths to fill the Sun, and our Sun is only about a medium-sized star.
How big is the Earth?
If you drove once around the Earth you would have gone 25,000 miles. That would mean 40 to 50 days of driving to just go around once.
What is the distance from the Earth to the Sun?
93 million miles. A 747 jet flies at about 600 miles in one hour. If we could take a 747 jet to the Sun, it would take 17 years to fly from the Earth to the Sun.
The Solar System consists of the Sun and the other celestial objects gravitationally bound to it: the eight planets, their 165 known moons, three currently identified dwarf planets (Ceres, Eris, and Pluto) and their four known moons, and billions of small bodies.
Distances in the solar system are commonly measured in Astronomical Units (AU). An AU is simply the average distance between the Earth and the Sun. An AU is equal to 149,000,000 km.
The Solar System has a diameter (one end to another) of about 100,000 AU which equals to 100,000 x 149,000,000
As we move farther away from our solar system, distances get so very large that it is measured in terms of speed, THE speed of light - the fastest thing in the universe.
Speed of light is 186,000 miles per second (like circling the Earth 7 times a second).
Light -Year = 5.87 trillion miles (the distance that light travels in one year).
The whole solar system, together with the local stars visible on a clear night, orbits the center of our home galaxy, a spiral disk of 200-400 billion stars we call the Milky Way galaxy.
Our solar system is located in the outer reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, almost everything that we can see in the sky belongs to the Milky Way Galaxy. The sun is about 26,000 light-years from the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, which is about 80,000 to 120,000 light-years across (and less than 7,000 light-years thick). We are located on on one of its spiral arms, out towards the edge. It takes the sun (and our solar system) roughly 200-250 million years to orbit once around the Milky Way.
The Milky Way is one of a group of 30 galaxies called the "Local Group".
The Local Group is one of dozens of small clusters centered on a large collection of more than 2,500 galaxies called the Virgo Cluster.
These galaxies and other galaxy groups form a "Supercluster".
The Universe contains millions of such Superclusters.
There are an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the universe.
The matter in the universe is so thinly dispersed that the universe can be compared with a building twenty miles long, twenty miles wide, and twenty miles high, containing only a single grain of sand.
About 25% of the universe consists of "dark matter", and about 70% consists of "dark energy", leaving only about 5% of the universe visible to us.
As used by observational cosmologists, the Universe (upper case "U") most frequently refers to the finite part of space-time which is directly observable by making observations using telescopes and other detectors and using the methods of theoretical and empirical physics for studying the basic components of the Universe and their interactions. Physical cosmologists assume that the observable part of (comoving) space (also called: "our universe") corresponds to a part of a model of the whole of space, and usually not to the whole space. They frequently use the term the Universe to mean either the observable part of space, the observable part of space-time or the entire space-time.
A majority of cosmologists believe that the observable universe is an extremely tiny part of the "whole" (theoretical) Universe and that it is impossible to observe the whole of comoving space.
Well, well, well, I can't stress anymore. You are nothing, period!
Just simply nothing compared to everything else that exists, your existance is temporary, short and very very very very tiny.
The solar system will last for 4 to 5 billion years. Then the Sun will run out of hydrogen to fuse and it will grow into a red giant star. The planets nearest the Sun (including the Earth) will be burnt away. By that time some form of intelligence will have to spread from Earth far out into the Galaxy, or even to other galaxies.
Otherwise, it would be the end of life!
Far, far in the future the expansion of the Universe will be the most important thing The end of the Universe depends on how much dark matter there is between the galaxies, which is very hard to see. If there is not much of it then the Universe will keep expanding forever, to end with a Big Emptiness. If there is a lot of dark matter then the Universe will eventually stop expanding and start to shrink. If that happens then, very far in the future, the Universe will shrink back down to a point no bigger than a full stop. This is sometimes called the Big Crunch. It would be like the Big Bang backwards. We have no way of telling what would happen after that, or even if "after that" has any meaning.
